The River Jesters - "Pony"

Self described as “New Zealand's psychedelic folk and blues rock gypsies”, we had the privilege of working with Tom Batchelor and Michael Morris of The River Jesters to record and mix their 2014 single “Pony”. The challenge lay in capturing the unique energy of their live show faithfully to a recorded medium. Dru from Stroke contributed his drumming, demonstrating the flexible ways we can contribute to a project.. By working collaboratively with TRJ (and not to mention lashings of boutique guitar amp), we managed to hit the mark.

The Helpful - "RATSOL" EP

“Relationships are the stuff of Life, James” is the enigmatically titled late 2012 EP from Christchurch-based alternative rock three piece, The Helpful. Perhaps more than any other of our portfolio, RATSOL showcases the unique strengths of Stroke Media. First and foremost, Stroke is for musicians - The Helpful features both Kris Muir and Dru Norriss of Stroke, between them contributing the vast majority of the songwriting, arrangement, guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, recording and mixing of the project. We love bringing these talents to bear on all our client’s projects, and we’re convinced it leads to better recordings.
